Maui Waena is now a STEM school.   Thank you MEDB!  Please take a look at our Project Impact Statement to find out how STEM impacts our students.

Our school's STEM program is heading in an exciting direction.  We are a part of the 21st Century grant that Maui Economic Development Board attained.  This collaboration will provide our students with more opportunities for training, programs, and use of technology.

We are happy to announce that the Maui Waena Technology Club will be merging with the STEMworks AFTERschool program to offer Maui Waena Students even more.

Students are welcome to enter the STEMworks program at no charge with will be held daily and include various STEM related opportunities.

Along with Joining the STEMworks program, students can join the Media and Robotics club. This club is a serious commitment. We will be representing our school in many local and national events and students will be expected to be dependable and self-directed. We will also be doing various fundraisers to offset travel expenses and students along with their families will be asked to assist.

Students will sign up for offerings and attendance will be taken every day.  Students have until 2:05 to report to their room.  If they are late, they must go directly to the teacher to be marked as present.

Students will spend the first 30 minutes doing homework, and expected to keep their grades up. If extra time is needed, students need to let the teacher know.

Absences

If a student is going to be absent, every effort should be made to notify their teacher prior to the absence.  Students can email mwis.suzuki@gmail.com or text 385-2942 (make sure to identify yourself).

We understand how busy our students’ lives are, so if a student need to “share” their time with other obligations, schedules can be worked out to accommodate all extracurricular activities.  However, students who attend all meetings will be given priority in competitions and travel.
