OUR IDEA:

1. Collect questions for Malala.

Talk to your students about Malala, show them the ‘Girl Rising’ trailer and ask them, “If you had the opportunity to interview Malala, what would you ask?”

Film these questions and submit. Have the student start by saying, My name is XXXX XXX from XXX XXX school and my question for Malala is …

2. Send Malala a message.

Have a student record a personal message for Malala or tape the message as a class. The video can focus on one student starting the message then zoom out and have the entire class shout out the last line.

The idea is that the correspondent will say at the end of the interview…

“Our last question comes from our Reporting Labs site in XXX” … cue the tape and Margaret Warner (the NewsHour correspondent) and Malala will watch the question. Malala will then have the opportunity to respond.

AND IF WE CROWDSOURCE A REALLY GOOD MESSAGE THEN MAYBE:
